Peace in Middle East???, a perspective
the frantic activity to bring peace, let alone lasting cease fire among the warring factions is doomed as it had been many times before. Is the world really interested in preventing the loss of life, destruction of property and dousing the flames of historical hatred that has been plaguing the region. Within a larger context of bringing a permanent peace, apportioning the blame is futile: the blood curdling, gut wrenching scenes of suffering and death cast also a death knell on impartiality. The cruel, shameless wailing of politicians and media accompanying the images of parents cradling their lifeless children to nowhere, bring us no closer to solving, indeed exacerbates the tragedy. The macabre asymmetry that floods our eyes, hearts and minds is not as stark when viewed through the prism of Hamas' dogged industriousness in holding their own against Israel's obvious military superiority. It is obvious that geopolitics, economics , territorial disputes and national aspirations in their own rights threaten to continue ravage both camps, both right in their own intransigence. It might be useful to view the carnage in Gaza against the avowed goals of ISIS to create a wide ranging Caliphate. Syria, Qatar and their acolytes, plus Iran never adverse to getting their feet muddied in the blood stained waters of Middle East.
Hi Jerry, appreciate what you have to say. Just wondering, what do you recommend we/they do, where do we go from here?
